10|Him

“She said yes to the marriage.” Maa’s voice ranged in my head again and again as I drove to my company. God, I still can’t believe that My Isha, My Goddess, had agreed to marry me.

Today literally has to be the best day of my life, No, No, No the best day of my life will be the day I marry her, gosh I’ll literally faint due to adrenaline that day. Also why do I keep embarrassing myself in front of her again and again first at our first meeting I ended up falling into the pool I had just gone there to witness her swim like a mermaid I had managed to get in because of my father’s connection only to embarrass myself in front of her but I am still glad that she jumped in to save me, also she went back into the pool just for my specs the once which I have still kept like a treasure.

Then that day at the restaurant she saw me in that position with Zayn God. I just hope she doesn’t think about the odds. I’ve just spilled some coffee on my coat by mistake and Zayn was just helping me clean up but just then she showed up.

And then yesterday she caught me, she’s smart like really very smart ofcourse.

“Why can’t you lie properly Neil?” I asked myself, as I pressed the breaks making the car come to a halt.

But no it’s good that I can’t lie because when she caught me lying I was able to see her beautiful smile the kind which made her eyes sparkle, in school that laugh was only reserved for Aalok and I used to sit at the far corner of the classroom watching her talk to Aalok who then use to pull those laughters out of her but yesterday she smiled because of me.

I am glad that I ran away from there before she could ask me about the flowers again because what was I supposed to say huh?

‘That when I accidently saw your workplace and wanted to meet you and also I can’t just go and meet you empty handed so I drove TEN KILOMETRES away from there just to buy you your favourite flowers and then came back to meet you.’

Sometimes I get so needy,

What if after our marriage she found my clinginess annoying? My heartbeat rose just by the thought of it. I gulped the lump forming in my throat, I shook my head no, no My Isha will not be like that.

I pushed all the negative thoughts aside and kept my mind on just one thing that ‘My Isha agreed to marry me.’

I got out of the car and tossed the key to my guard so that he could park it. As I got into the building all of my employees were staring me in shock as if I’ve transformed into a pokemon,

“What?” I asked my secretary, raising an eyebrow.

“Sir, you're smiling.” She said her voice laced with suspicion, then it clicked me that I was smiling like a fool, God,

‘How much aura did I lose for this one?’ But it doesn’t really matter anymore because I’ll gain infinite aura the day I’ll marry my Isha.

I ignored everyone and went to my cabin, calling Zayn as I want to give My Isha her dream wedding and for that I need to plan because, I can not afford even a slight mistake.

‘Because now I am finally going to be hers.’

When I got into my cabin, Zayn was already there waiting for me, I hit him on the back of his head ‘our normal way of greeting’ and sat on my chair.

“Stop smiling like a menace your employees will think that you’ve gone mad.” He snorted, his eyes never leaving his phone.

“So, am I not allowed to celebrate now?”

“You absolutely can, but your employees are getting the biggest shocker of their lives seeing their rude arrogant boss acting like a fool in love.”

“Whatever, listen to me so, she likes flowers so the wedding theme should be no…it must be floral. Her favourite flowers are white lilies but we can do different colours of lilies right? But most of them must be white lilies.”

“Okay, anything else?”

“Yep and the garlands must be made of white lilies and also we can add some white roses, they’ll look cool.” I said looking at him to which he nodded.

“Also you have to handle all the work here today because at two I have to go shopping with my mom.” I declared and for some reason he started coughing.

“Am I hearing it right?”

“What?” I asked, confused

“The mighty NEIL MALHOTRA just told me that he has to go shopping?”

“Yeah, what’s wrong with that?” I asked, sipping my tea.

“You are the very person who keeps work over everything, right?” He asked, his voice still laced with confusion and undeniable shock.

“But this is different.” I said diverting my gaze from his.

“How?” He asked, raising an eyebrow.

“This shopping is for My Isha, we are going to buy outfits and accessories for her.” I replied. I could feel heat crawling up my neck.

“Will she be there?” He asked

To which I was only able to nod then to escape his further questions I decided to bury myself into work.

“Maa what do you mean by I can’t go?” I asked my mother in a sulky voice.

I was so excited that I came home at twelve because I wanted to get ready as soon as possible so that I could go and pick Isha up and now my mother told me that My Isha will directly meet us at the boutique and now I’ll have to wait for an extra hour to see her, what a waste of my life.

So I decided to make some use of this time by stalking My Isha’s public Instagram account, she looks so pretty in every picture.

I accidentally stumbled upon one of her pictures. In that picture she was surrounded by a lot of cats, “Wait” I whispered to myself, recalling something.

In school, once I heard her talking about how much she likes cats, my face fell in that instant because I can’t give her a cat to make her as happy as she looks in this picture because I am allergic to cats. But since this day I haven’t cared about my cat allergy that much because to be honest I don’t encounter cats at all but there maybe some solution, there has to be some solution, I wanna see her happy. I’ll talk to my doctor.

“Scyler, you’ve got no chance your mumma likes cats.” I teased my pit bull who was sitting right next to the couch, that earned me an angry growl and him jumping on me.

It seemed like he wanted to choke me and he would have done exactly that if he had hands instead of paws.

“What’s your problem Neil? Why do you keep poking him?” Mom scolded me from the living room.

Just as I was struggling to get Scyler away from me my day came and helped as the only person this beast listens to is my father.

“Stop provoking him.” My dad said looking at me, his voice firm but soft.

Actually dad’s got a point because it was me who had been showing her pictures to Scyler telling him that one day I’ll marry her and then he had to protect her, I’ve even trained him to protect My Isha.

“It’s 1:30 let’s go.” My mom said and before I could even realise I was on my feet walking towards the door we got into the car and I started the car and we drove off.

As we reached the boutique no one was there except the staff because I’ve booked the whole boutique for the day as she hates attention and also I don’t want anyone else to see her in those pretty dresses except me.

As we got in, My Isha was still not there. She must be busy with work. She works really hard. Just as I was thinking about her my phone buzzed pulling me out of my wonderland as I excused myself and went in the corner to attend the call.

When I hung up and turned back, My breath stilled, and I swear everything around me vanished. There were only me and My Isha looking like the absolute angel she's.

My heart hammered relentlessly against my ribs like it wanted to leap out, “Neil?” My mothers soft voice pulled me out of my fantasy, I blinked rapidly coming to my senses hoping this time I wouldn’t embarrass myself in front of her.

“Ohh, Hii.” I said offering her a small nervous smile while extending my hand for a handshake, then pulling it back just as quickly, as I recalled that she hates physical touches.

“Hello.” She greeted me in her usual soft but firm voice, before bending down to touch my mother’s feet but my mother stopped her and hugged her instead.

The staff there then led us to a private room we sat on the long couch near the window as the staff then started showing us outfits, she sat near my mother both busy talking about dresses I sat at a respectful distance as not to make her uncomfortable just as I was busy admiring her my gaze paused at a beautiful light pink lehenga I told one of the staff lady to show her that one for some reasons I knew she would like it and when the staff lady showed her that dress she immediately went to change into it and when she came out wearing that lehenga I was busy on my phone basically checking the pictures our wedding planner had sent, she called out to my mother that’s when I looked up.

My phone slipped through my fingers falling onto the floor with a loud thud, but I didn’t care. My Isha was standing right in front of me in the outfit that I just chose for her looking like the incarnation of a goddess. I couldn't take my eyes off her, not like I wanted to and when I looked up for a minute my eyes went blank.

Then it happened,

Her gaze lifted,

She looked at me, her beautiful honey eyes meeting my mesmerised ones, God how can someone be this beautiful her eyes were like gold perfectly matching with her dress.

My Isha is so pretty that sometimes I really wonder what good deeds I’ve done to deserve her, sometimes I just think that I’m not worthy of her, hell I am not even worthy of a single gaze from her.

But still here we are, and I swear I’ll die before I let a single tear slip out of those pretty eyes.

“Neil?” My mothers voice brought me back to earth, “Huh?” I asked, confused.

“Do you like it?” My mother then asked.

“If she likes it, it’s fine.” I answered.

“Isha beta do you like this?” My mother then asked her, please say yes, please say yes, please say yes.

“Yes.” she said, and my heart rate steadied once again.

After we were done shopping my mother told me silently that she will take my car and go home so I can spend some more time with My Isha as she has came here with her car so she can drop me home my mother even convinced her for it and I was on the moon that I’ll be able to spend some more time with My Isha.

After the billing and all we dropped my mother to my car and after she left My Isha got into the driver’s seat and I got into the passenger seat, we put on our seatbelts and drove off.

“So where do you plan on taking me?” I teased, my boldness shocked me, even, that how I got the courage to initiate a talk with her without shuttering and even without practicing at least eighty times in my head.

It’s been over three hours since we left the boutique. We went to eat paanipuri, then we decided to go to an orphanage. Basically she took me there. I just followed and then we came to this temple walking around. She didn’t say much. I am the one initiating all the talks.

We stopped at one of the ponds where she was looking up at the night sky which was filled with stars.

Her brown skin glowing even more in the moonlight her honey eyes reflected the moon, the moon shining even brighter in her eyes, only if she has known how beautiful she is and didn’t let other people’s words to dim her light telling her that she is dark skinned and to be honest those people are just blinded by the beauty standards the world sets how can someone call a literal angle ‘Ugly?’ Only if she has known the lengths I would go to just see her radiant smile every second of my life, she doesn’t believe in herself, she doesn’t believe that she’s pretty but I’ll show her just how beautiful she’s both inside and out.

‘Just a few more days and when she comes to our house I’ll never let her be sad or overthink ever again, I’ll take all of her pain.’

I hope she soon realizes that I adore her just like the night sky adores the stars.
